A Heavy Dose of Modifieds in 2010: Canandaigua Speedway Release Schedule!

Weedsport, NY – It’s a NO NON-SENSE approach to racing in 2010 at Canandaigua Speedway as General Manager Cory Reed and his esteemed staff ramp up the action at the legendary track bringing fans a steady diet of Big Block Modified racing week in and week out!

Defending track champion and 2009 Rite Aid 200 presented by Ferris & Snapper Mowers champion Matt Sheppard will lead the brigade of  Modifieds into twenty-ten with the intent of bringing the Land of Legends track back to its Modified glory as they encounter 19 weeks of full throttle, open wheel action! Canandaigua Speedway kicks it into drive on April 24th at 7pm (gates open at 5pm) for its 47th edition of racing with the weekly ensemble headlined by the Big Block Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman, DIRTcar Stock Cars and Pure Stocks.

In continued effort to beef up Modified racing at Canandaigua, three 50-lap, $3,000-to-win features have been added to the schedule for Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend. Drivers will also have a chance to win a $500 gift certificate to Motorsports Safety Solutions thanks to Larry Bishop and our friends at Dig Safely New York. The $500 bonus will be given at random by draw to the driver who finishes the race in the selected spot 1-15. More laps with more money on the line, just another reason you don’t want to miss all the action!

The Land of Legends Speedway will enter into its first month of racing with a partnership every race fan only dreams of! It’s the speed of the 360 Sprints and the RUMBLE of the Modifieds as the duo pair up on May 15th for a Big Block/Sprint Car Doubleheader! For the first time in years the grouping will share the same stage on the same night as the Big Block Modifieds battle for 35-laps under the lights at the half mile and the winged warriors of the A-Verdi King of 360 Sprint Cars ricochets around the banks in an exhilarating debut of their own!

The BRP Can Am Late Model Series will be testing the waters at Canandaigua Speedway in 2010, making 7 appearances during the 19-week season as the newly established division looks to put roots down in the Finger Lakes Region. In addition to their part-time status at the track, Canandaigua Speedway and neighboring Black Rock Speedway have teamed up for a six-race BRP Can Am Late Model Series sponsored by DART Cylinder Heads. The two tracks will each hold three events at their venues where drivers will compete for the title and $3,000 point fund provided by DART. Who will take home the title? Can the BRP Late Models tame the Land of Legends Speedway? Only time will tell!

The DIRTcar Sportsman division returns to Canandaigua in twenty-ten as a weekly staple on the racing agenda along with the Big Block Modifieds, DIRTcar Stock Cars and Pure Stocks. In addition to this year’s race for the DIRTcar Sportsman title, Canandaigua Speedway and Black Rock Speedway have teamed up yet again for a four-race series of its own. Each track will host two DIRTcar Sportsman Black Rock/Canandaigua Challenge features where drivers will vie for an additional point’s fund that has yet to be finalized. 

The DIRTcar Stock Car division comes to Canandaigua with a new name and a Tri-Track Championship on the schedule card as the division partners up with Parts Plus to bring fans and drivers a three track series with DIRTcar NorthEast. Canandaigua Speedway, Cayuga County Fair Speedway, and Rolling Wheels Raceway have all signed up for the season-long additional points fund race! The half-miler will host two of the series races including the DIRTcar Stock Cars Parts Plus Tri-Track Series opener on Saturday, May 1st and a 50-lap race during the LaBatt Blue presents the Legends Weekend on Friday, September 17th.

The two-day LaBatt Blue presents Legends Weekend event in September is slated for Friday, September 17th thru Saturday, September 18th with appearances from your favorite high powered, action packed divisions including BRP Can Am Late Model Series, Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series, Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Series, DIRTcar Pure Stocks, and DIRTcar Stock Car Parts Plus Tri-Track Series.
